Ticket/Flight Coupon Refunds
Our Ticket Refund Site at www.refunds.aa.com gives you access to the following options:
    Request a refund online
    You will receive immediate feedback about the eligibility of your ticket and be presented with options regarding your ticket and refund request.

    This option will also allow you to view a copy of your ticket which you can print for records/expense reports.

    Lost Ticket Application
    If you have lost your paper ticket/flight coupons, choose this option.

    Check Refund Status
    Use this feature to check status on previously submitted refund requests.

    Find Ticket Number
    Use this feature to find UNUSED TICKETS that are LESS THAN 13 MONTHS OLD.

Refunds in the Event of Oversales
Optional Products and Services:
The following optional products and services will be eligible for a refund if you are unable to use the product or receive the service due to denied boarding (either voluntary or involuntary) caused by an oversold flight. If the product and/or service was provided on an alternate flight, no refund will be provided.

Optional products and services potentially impacted by flight oversales include but are not limited to:
  • Express Seats
  • Group 1 Boarding
  • Checked bag charge
  • Confirmed Flight Change
  • Baggage fees and charges (including excess baggage, pets, sports or hunting equipment, etc.)
If your optional product or service purchase meets the above eligibility and you wish to submit a refund request, you will be required to mail your original documents to American Airlines at the address below before your request can be processed.

Remember to keep a copy of the receipt for the optional product purchase/charges payment for your records.

Baggage Charge Refunds
You may request a refund at the ticket counter before leaving the airport or mail the original baggage charge receipt to:

Remember to keep a copy of the baggage charge receipt for your records. Requests for baggage charge refunds are processed independently from ticket refunds, if you need any other refunds please request at refunds.aa.com.

Cargo And Priority Parcel Service (PPS) Refunds
In the event that your shipment experiences conditions resulting in a loss or damage, please visit the Liability, Claims and Insurance page on AACargo.com to submit a claim.

American Airlines Vacation Package Refunds

Travel plans changed? Be sure to contact us to cancel your vacation package reservation prior to travel at 1-800-321-2121. Our agents are available 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 midnight (CT), daily to assist you. If calling from outside of the U.S. or Canada, please contact us at 1-918-669-8977 to speak with one of our Customer Care Representatives.


AAdvantage Award Travel Mileage Reinstatement
If you have not used your AAdvantage award ticket and it has not expired, you can request to have your AAdvantage mileage reinstated. Partially used tickets cannot be reinstated and miles that would have expired will not be reinstated.

When requesting a reinstatement, there will be a $150 processing charge per account for the first award. Any additional awards reinstated to the same account at the same time will have a $25 USD per award.

If you have an electronic ticket and wish to reinstate your AAdvantage mileage, please call 1-800-882-8880 to cancel your reservation and request your mileage reinstatement.

If you have a paper ticket, please call 1-800-882-8880 to cancel your reservation and mail your paper ticket and reinstatement request to:
