Check-In
We have several check-in options available:
- Check-in desks are located in Terminal 4 between counters 930-934
- Self-service check-in machines are located in Terminal 4 within the check-in area
- Online Check-In is available from 24 hours and up to 2 hours before your flight departure time

- 06:45 to 12:00 (except Tuesday and Thursday)
- 06:45 to 09:35 (Tuesday and Thursday)

American Airlines operates a number of clubs and lounges worldwide. At Madrid Barajas Airport eligible customers can use the Sala Velázquez lounge provided by Iberia, where you can relax and unwind before your flight.
Location & Opening Hours
Located in Terminal 4 Satellite (T4S), after passport control go to the first floor of the satellite building and you’ll see the lounge in front of the Starbucks Cafe.

- American Airlines Business Class passenger
- AAdvantage Platinum or Executive Platinum member
- oneworld Emerald and Sapphire tier members on an a flight operated by a oneworld member airline.

Transferring between flights is simple when you know how. Take a look at the tips below that will help you make a smoother connection at Madrid Barajas Airport.
Where do I go once I’ve arrived at the airport?
Once you’ve arrived at Madrid airport, follow the signs to your departure gate which will lead you to the correct terminal for your onward flight.
What happens if I do not have a boarding pass?
If you do not have a boarding pass you will need to see an American Airlines representative at the transit desk located at T4S.
Do I have to pick up my luggage or re check-in again?
If your bags have been labelled to your final destination and you were given a boarding pass for your onward flight then your luggage will be taken care of.
How do I get between Terminals?
If you are connecting between terminals T1, T2, T3 and T4, there is a transit bus that operates 24 hours a day free of charge. This transit bus service operates every 5 minutes from 06:30 - 23:30. It then operates every 20 minutes from 23:30 - 01:50 and every 40 minutes from 01:50 - 06:30.
Madrid’s Metro also connects T1, T2, T3 and T4 and operating from 06:30 - 01:30.

XClose Travelling To / From Madrid Airport
When travelling to the airport, please allow yourself plenty of time. To help you on your way we have some travel suggestions below, but please check with the relevant operator before setting off to ensure you have the most up to date information.
Bus
The Linea Express Aeropuerto bus operates a frequent service to and from the airport 24 hours a day.

Car
To get to the airport by car access the M-12 (North-South) motorway which links the M-14 and the M-13 (East-West). This road connects directly to the airport terminals.
If you are going to pick up or drop off, you must park in a car park and walk to the arrivals lobby (ground floor). The arrivals lanes are for taxis and buses only.
Short and long stay car parks are available at Terminal 4.

Taxi
You will find taxi ranks on the ground floor of every Terminal at Madrid Airport. Please ensure that the taxi driver has started up the taximeter at the start of your journey.

Train
You can catch the metro to and from the airport on Line 8, Nuevos Ministerios - Airport Terminal 4, which operates from 06:00 – 01:30 daily.
